From March 29, 2023 post.
Last Saturday night, your Gallup Fire Department responded to I-40 mile marker 12 to assist McKinley County Fire & EMS with extrication and a hazardous materials incident. Upon arrival our crews found three vehicles involved. One semi-truck carrying non-hazardous material, one pickup truck, and another semi-truck that was on its side. The semi-truck on its side was carrying liquified argon refrigerant which was actively leaking.
One occupant had no injuries and one occupant was extricated by personnel from both agencies. The patient that was extricated was transported to the hospital by Med Star Ambulance.
Two other occupants were pronounced deceased on scene. Our department would like everyone to keep those families in their thoughts and prayers.
