From March 22, 2023 post.
It’s 2 o’clock in the morning. You and your family are sound asleep when you awaken to the smoke alarm sounding. You smell smoke and as you open your bedroom door you find the hallway full of thick dark smoke. Would you know what to do? Would your family know what to do?
Having working smoke alarms in your home can save your life. But they are only a part of your home fire safety. Another critical part is having a home fire escape plan.
Every home should have a home fire escape plan. These plans should include:
1. Knowing 2 ways out of the home.
2. Designating a safe meeting spot outside and away from the home.
Work as a family and design a home fire escape plan and practice it at least twice a year.
