Several nights ago, Crew A of your Gallup Fire Department was dispatched to the area of 9th & Maloney on a report of a brush fire. While responding our units were updated that the fire was going to be located on I-40 MM 20. Units were also being updated that this was a possible car fire or semi-truck on fire and that several explosions were being reported. Upon arrival crews found a working fire in a transient camp that was about 20 feet by 20 feet in size. Numerous BBQ grill size and small camp stove size LP gas cylinders were also involved in the fire. Crews deployed attack lines and were able to knockdown the fire and cool the LP gas cylinders before any more could be impacted by the fire. No injuries were reported.
