From January 26, 2023 post.
Your Gallup Fire Department was the first fire department in the state to be a Child Safety Seat Distribution Site. We are proud of this program to keep the children in our community safe.
The New Mexico Child Safety Seat Distribution Program (NMCSSDP) is funded by the New Mexico Department of Transportation Traffic Safety Division. This program helps provide car seats and education on how to properly use them to low-income New Mexico families at a low cost.
If you qualify for the program, a trained NMCSSDP staff member will provide the appropriate seat for your child. Parents and caregivers must be educated on the proper use of the seat, are provided educational resources, and are required to watch an educational video before being issued a seat. Families can receive 1 seat per child.
If you are interested in this program please call your Gallup Fire Department at 505-722-4195 for more information or to schedule an appointment to receive training and a car seat.
