Late last night, Crew B of your Gallup Fire Department was dispatched on a report of a vehicle that had struck a house. Very quickly Metro Dispatch updated crews that there were reports of someone trapped, the vehicle now being on fire, and the fire extending into the house. Upon arrival crews found a vehicle that had struck a house and caused major damage. The vehicle had caught fire which was rapidly extending into the home. Crews conducted a rapid attack to knock down a majority of the fire and then entered the home for search and rescue and to extinguish the remainder of the fire.
The home was occupied at the time but no injuries from those occupants were reported. Two occupants of the vehicle were transported to the hospital by MedStar Ambulance.
This event had potential to become a disastrous call. The quick actions of the first arriving officers from your Gallup Police Department and your Gallup Fire Department saved this home.
