Around lunch time today, Crew A of your Gallup Fire Department was dispatched to Basilio Drive on a report of an electric pole on fire. Upon arrival crews found an electrical pole that was actively burning at the very top. The wires to the pole were still energized so with the assistance of the Gallup Police Department the traffic and pedestrians were diverted away from the area for safety. The City of Gallup Electric Department arrived on scene and de-energized the lines allowing our crews to extinguish the fire.
