Today, Crew B of your Gallup Fire Department was at Red Rock Elementary School teaching about fire safety. We focused on home fire escape plans and the importance of smoke alarms.
The younger students also got to see a Firefighter put on their protective clothing so they would know not to be afraid of us. Some of the younger kids also got to meet Sparky the Fire Dog for the first time.
All of the students got to tour a fire engine and see all of the equipment that we carry.
We still have many more schools to go to and we are making are rounds.
This year we are stressing the importance of home fire escape plans and smoke alarms in the home. If you child comes home from school asking about doing a home fire drill you will know where it came from. We also tell the students that if their home needs smoke alarms to have the grownups call the Gallup Fire Department Fire Prevention Office at 505-726-5448 and we can install them free of charge.
