This afternoon, your Gallup Fire Department was at the Comfort Inn on the north side of town teaching the staff about portable fire extinguishers and we conducted a fire drill with them. We simulated a fire in the laundry room and while staff where extinguishing the fire the other staff activated the fire alarm system and evacuated the hotel of guests.
When the staff exited the building, Battalion Chief Ricardo Sanchez was there and he went through the questions we would ask staff in the event of a real emergency. It was a great learning experience for all.
