Yesterday, the 2nd annual Battle of the Badges was held which included a mushball tournament. This event is brought together by Chee Montano State Farm, the Lions Club, Amigo and other local businesses and is done to allow the local first responders to have a day to spend with each other and our families.
This year there were 4 teams that played in the tournament which included 2 teams from the Gallup Fire Department which were called “The Other Guys” and “The White Helmets”. Teams from McKinley County Sheriff’s Office, Gallup Police Department “GPD Zombies” and Navajo Nation Police “The Howlers” all played.
The Gallup Fire Department “The Other Guys” took 1st place and the Navajo Nation Police “The Howlers” took 2nd place.
This is an amazing event and a great day for us to spend it with our families and coworkers. With our hectic work schedules it is rare that we all get to come together and usually we only see each other on emergency responses.
We would like to thank everyone involved in putting this together and everyone that donated that allowed it to happen. It truly does mean the world to us.
