With school being back in session it is a hectic time of year. It is important to remember and share with you children, some key safety tips that will keep our community safe.
Whether children walk, ride their bicycle or take the bus to school, it is extremely important that take proper safety precautions.
If your children walk to school review your family’s walking safety tips and practice walking to school with your child to make sure they are walking safe.
If your children ride their bike to school, teach your kids the rules of the road when riding a bicycle and practice riding with them. And always make sure they are wearing a properly fitted helmet and bright clothing.
If your kids ride the bus make sure you go over bus safety rules with them. These include how to properly get on and off the bus. Standing at least 6 feet away from the curb while waiting for the bus. And if they must cross the road do it at least 10 feet in front of the bus.
If you drive your children to school it is important for you to remain alert and avoid distracted driving and always obey school zone speed limits.
If your child drives themselves to school remember the best teacher is a great example. Be a great driving role model for your children.
