Your Gallup Fire Department was honored to be a part of the 2022 JPSA Program. Yesterday the JPSA participants spent the day with Crew A and learned multiple components about the fire department which included:
1. Fire Prevention and the use of portable fire extinguishers
2. Search and rescue using a thermal imaging camera for people trapped in a burning building
3. Ropes and knots including raising systems
4. Pump operations which included handling hoselines
5. Vehicle extrication demonstration
6. First aid and splinting
7. Bucket brigade to show how firefighters extinguished fires before pumping apparatus
8. Rescue tour showing the students the ins and outs of an ambulance
To finish off the day the JPSA participants did a tug of war competition for team building.
This was a great day and your Gallup Fire Department loves spending time teaching the future leaders of our community.
