New Mexico State University has transitioned to online courses as of March 31.

The decision came during a meeting held by university officials last month. Officials are continuing to discuss the next steps as the COVID-19 response continues to evolve.

Students who left campus during spring break have been instructed not to return to campus. Students who stayed on campus are allowed to stay, but no guests or visitors are allowed. For students who stayed on campus during spring break, but now want to leave, express check out options are being made available.

NMSU President John Floros and staff at the university worked through the week this past week to prepare for online course work this semester.

"One of the reasons we did that, as I said before, it was to protect the health and wellness of our faculty, our staff and our students, and also to prepare for what comes ahead,” Floros said, as reported by The Round Up.
